LASK, short for Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub, is one of Austria’s most historic and respected football clubs. Based in the city of Linz, LASK was founded in 1908 and has played a significant role in shaping Austrian football over the past century. As the oldest football club in Upper Austria, LASK enjoys a deep-rooted connection with the local community and a proud tradition built on resilience, determination, and ambition.
The club’s most notable achievement came in 1965, when LASK won the Austrian Bundesliga. This title victory was particularly historic, as it marked the first time a club from outside Vienna had claimed the Austrian championship. In the same year, LASK also lifted the Austrian Cup, completing a remarkable domestic double and earning their place in the annals of Austrian football history. These triumphs made LASK a symbol of footballing success beyond the capital, inspiring generations of supporters throughout the region.
LASK has experienced periods of fluctuation, including relegation battles and financial challenges, but the club has always maintained a reputation for bouncing back with strong character. In more recent years, the team has re-established itself as a competitive force in the Austrian Bundesliga and has made notable appearances in European competitions. Their disciplined and energetic style of play has earned them plaudits and a growing fanbase both domestically and abroad.
In continental football, LASK has enjoyed memorable European campaigns, facing well-established clubs and holding their own on the international stage. Their participation in competitions like the UEFA Europa League has provided fans with thrilling nights and further cemented the club’s return to prominence. These European adventures have become defining moments for modern supporters and a proud continuation of the club’s historic journey.
